The Bhagavad Gita is a profound scripture that delves into five fundamental truths and their interrelationships: Krishna (God), the individual soul, the material world, action in this world, and time. Since its inception, the Bhagavad Gita has garnered countless commentaries with diverse perspectives. Starting with Adi Sankara's eighth-century CE commentary, various scholars have interpreted its essence differently. The battlefield setting of the Gita serves as an allegory for the ethical and moral conflicts faced by humans in their lives.

Renowned figures like Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi found solace and inspiration in the Bhagavad Gita during India's struggle for independence. Gandhi referred to it as his "spiritual dictionary."
